Turning the Place Over

Turning the Place Over

Turning the Place Over is artist Richard Wilson’s most radical intervention into architecture to date, turning a building in Liverpool’s city centre literally inside out. One of Wilson’s very rare temporary works, Turning the Place Over colonises Cross Keys House, Moorfields.

Eagles Head

Smoke

I have had a busy day today. As a result, I have not had a chance to shoot anything  can put on here.

I went through some old shots and found this one of the Eagles Head in Satterthwaite.

Hamster

I got the hamster out earlier to let her have a run about. A good opportunity for some photographs too.

Forbidden Book

Book

When I set out to take this photograph, I wanted the feel of the book being old and that the viewer is forbidden from looking in it. I think I have managed to achieve that.

Dandelion

Seeds

This dandelion wasn’t easy to shoot. I found it hard to light because the seeds are so fine and I was losing a lot of detail. However I think this shot has just the right amount of detail in it.

Dice

Dice

It was quite difficult to get the timing right for this shot. It took several attempts to get the front dice at the point where it is just suspended in the air slightly.

Happy St. George’s Day

Flag

As today is St. George’s Day I thought I would go out and take some photographs of English flags. I was very disappointed. It took me ages to find one. In all I only managed to find two flags in the area I live. One was on a church and the other was on the town hall.

I could complain on and on about the lack of flags but this blog is about my photography and not about social commentary.

This flag was flying on Bootle Town Hall. As I stood there waiting for the clouds to clear hoping it wouldn’t rain, I realised that despite the bad weather and the lack of general interest in St. George’s Day, just looking at the flag made me feel proud of my English heritage. I just hope there are more people out there who feel proud of their heritage too, no matter where they are from.

Sunny Day

Cat

Today was probably the sunniest day so far this year. The cats were enjoying the sun in the garden until I started pointing my camera at them.

Strawberry Splash

Strawberry

I like shots like this one. Tricky to get but very much worth the effort. Luckily the strawberry was still vertical when the picture was taken.
